Most sufferers will agree it’s the worst kind of headache you can get. Many migraine patients are completely incapacitated, sensitive to light and/or loud noises and must lay down in a cool, dark, quiet room to manage the constant throbbing. Besides disabling, migraine headaches can also be very difficult to treat; prescription medication that can be effective if taken at the right time, however is also so taxing to the body the patient is barely functional the next day. In most cases, the medication only helps manage the condition but offers no real resolution.

A migraine is a type of severe headache, often recurring on a regular basis or in cycles. Migraines are often one sided but can affect any part of the head. These headaches generally last 1-4+ days without intervention (and sometimes despite it). Migraine sufferers describe the pain as sharp and throbbing, but much more intense and constant than the average headache or tension type. Some migraines also cause symptoms in other areas of the body, joint pain, back/neck pain, inability to concentrate and nausea/vomiting. Sometimes patients experience certain mild symptoms directly preceding their headache. These can include dizziness, blurred vision/visual disturbances, numbness (in the face or elsewhere) and slurred speech. These are called ‘prodromal effects’ and will often alert the patient a migraine is soon coming.

At Solutions Integrated Medicine, we offer several types of treatments to help headache and migraine sufferers get the relief they need while addressing the cause of their problem. Depending on the type of headache, exam findings, severity and a number of other factors, we often recommend a combination of natural treatments to our patients. These may include chiropractic care, regenerative medicine, trigger point injections and even physical rehabilitation stretches/exercises. We may also recommend certain vitamin supplements and/or nutritional recommendations. We have a high success rate with helping migraine patients. Call us if you suffer with migraine headaches and want a natural approach that’s effective and will not harm your body. (423) 542-2913
