Posture & Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain can be a debilitating and aggravating problem; pain and weakness with certain movements of your arm and deficits in range of motion can be very limiting to work and daily activities. Many patients have interruption of sleep because of shoulder pain making life a constant battle. While direct shoulder injuries are easy to attribute a cause, many patients have shoulder pain from no injury at all; they just woke up with it one day and the next thing you know you’re facing a rotator cuff surgery! A lot of these cases may be related to your posture. As we age, changes in a person’s posture is extremely common. Deteriorating spinal discs/bones plus a lack of muscular tone in the upper back cause the upper back to round and allowing the shoulder joints to slump and hang forward. This changes the angle of the shoulder joint sets and slowly creates an imbalance in the muscles that create the rotator cuff. Eventually one of them begins to tear/fray or other aspects of the shoulder joint itself deteriorate.

If you’re having shoulder pain, consider regenerative medicine as an option before having surgery. One of the best things about this treatment is it’s natural and will help your body heal whatever type of tissue it needs, whether it’s bone, cartilage, tendon or ligament. At Solutions, we have great results with shoulder pain by combining the right regenerative medicine protocol with rehabilitation exercises and in many cases, chiropractic care as well. The regenerative medicine helps reduce pain, inflammation and provides building blocks for healing of damaged tissue. Rehab/therapy provides for strengthening and re-balancing of the joint. Chiropractic care is recommended for postural improvement and restored function.
