The Cause of Joint Degeneration

It’s a sad day when you hear the somber words from your doctor that your knee joints are ‘bone on bone’ and you need a total replacement. Whether it’s your hips, knees or shoulder joints, replacement surgery should not be taken lightly. While regenerative medicine now offers another (less invasive) option, it’s still not a place you want to be; it’s much better to avoid end stage osteoarthritis if possible. Total prevention requires understanding the original cause of joint degeneration in the first place. While some joint damage comes from the inevitable result of living on a planet with gravity, most joint deterioration is related to joint misalignment. When you have an injury to one of your joints, the bones that make up the joint misalign and cause uneven wear and tear. Just like how the treads of your tires wear down from being out of alignment, such is the same with your joints.

While typical medical treatment focuses more on reducing inflammation, it rarely acknowledges misalignment, allowing joints to wear down over time. In most cases, by the time you are having regular joint pain, it’s already in its end-stage of deterioration. At Solutions Integrated Medicine, we use chiropractic care and a comprehensive rehab program to realign both the joints and associated soft tissue structures for the most complete healing.
